WHY PLAY NBC SPORTS FANTASY
FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ONLINE?
There’s nothing quite like a live fantasy football draft, but if you can’t make it to the live
events then drafting online is the next best thing. In 2008, NBC
Sports/Rotoworld.com will offer a myriad of online leagues, where prizes are
awarded just within those leagues, paying the top three finishers. The prizes will be large and the leagues will
be run by experts who run the NBC Sports Fantasy Football Championships and the
National Fantasy Football Championships.
Here is what makes online drafts
so great in the NBC Sports FFC and a breakdown of how the online drafts are
run:
ONLINE DRAFTS -- BENEFITS
- Feel the Power of Being An NFL Owner:
You pick the players, you set the starting lineups, you cut the players
and you sign the hot new free agents. YOU are responsible for this team
winning or losing this year and nobody else.
- You Control Everything: There is
no travel expense, no hotel expense, no co-manager fee, no
hassle. Every player is available at your fingertips in the online draft
room and making selections is fast and easy.
- You Are Our Top Priority - Top Notch
Customer Service: The NBC Sports FFC will have two draft moderators
watching every online draft and if technical problems occur the drafts
will be paused until everyone is up and running. We personally watch every
draft and make sure everyone leaves with the players they wanted.
- You will Make New Friends: There
is a live chat room within the online draft and friendships can be made
easily even with those you are competing against.
- Your Wallet will Stay Full: If you
can’t afford the main event at $1,300, you can still enjoy the same
competition, the same rules and the same scoring system in our satellite
leagues at a fraction of the cost. NBC FFC Satellite Leagues start at $150
and have other levels of $250, $500 and $1,000. There’s a level for every
player who wants to play for a large league prize.
- Your Bragging Rights Begin as Soon as
the Draft Ends: After the drafts are done, league members can rate the
drafts and even pick the best team. The fun and comraderie
often continues well after the drafts are complete.
- Play for Large League Prizes: If
you are used to winning your league, then this is PERFECT for you. Play as
many leagues as you want and win as many as you can. Winning the league title is great, but
getting the winning check within weeks of the end of the season is even
better. We have extremely fast payouts. It is all about you.
Here’s how the online drafts will
work:
- Leagues
are formed on a first-come, first-served basis for each offering. Once a
12-team satellite league is filled, the draft spots are randomly selected
and then teams are seeded according to their KDS preferences.
- All
drafts will be held on MockDraftCentral.com and moderated by two people:
An MDC.com representative and an NBC Sports FFC representative. Once the
draft orders are finalized by NBC Sports, MDC.com will set up the league
and e-mail all of the participants their log-in information for that draft,
the draft order and the URL for the draft.
- Participants
are allowed to pre-rank their players within the MDC.com site well in
advance of the draft. Each participant can enter the live draft room 20
minutes before the start of the draft.
- The
draft order is on the left-hand side of the screen and the available
players are in the middle screen, ranked either by your draft order, the
pre-ranked order or alphabetically. You can que
up players as well and have them ready in a special area on the right-hand
side. Once players are drafted, they are removed from the player pool.
- When
it’s your turn to draft, a loudspeaker will let you know by saying “Now
It’s Your Turn.” You will have 90 seconds to make your selection. If you
go past the time limit, the computer will pick the top-rated available
player.
- The
draft continues for 20 rounds, with no breaks.
- NBC
Sports will use 3RR (Third Round Reversal) this year, which means that the
first two rounds will go 1-12 and 12-1 and then Round 3 will again start
with 12 and go 12-1. Starting in Round 4, the draft continues serpentine
1-12 and 12-1 through Round 20.
- All
owners must fill up the 10 required starting spots with their 20 draft
picks, but can pick as many backups at any position that they’d like.
